Singapore Airlines (SIA) has formed an alliance with Garuda Indonesia to provide an enhanced travel experience for passengers and additional options amid increasing air traffic between countries.

According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), airlines will cooperate on joint marketing activities and possible alignment of loyalty programs after regulatory approval.

They will also work on actions to support inbound tourism to Indonesia, explore growth opportunities in air cargo, and collaborate on repair, maintenance and overhaul activities.

On October 1, 2021, the duo renewed their air connectivity partnership agreement between Singapore and Bali, Jakarta and Surabaya.

In addition, Garuda Indonesia has started flight network connectivity on SIA services to London.

From January 1, 2022, it will also share codes on flights from SIA to Mumbai, which is pending regulatory sanction.

The partnership will also aim to improve air connectivity to Indonesia and Singapore, in addition to the Greater Southeast Asia area.

SIA CEO Goh Choon Phong said, “Singapore Airlines and Garuda Indonesia enjoy a strong and long-standing relationship, reflecting the warm and strong bilateral relationship between Singapore and Indonesia, as well as the close people-to-people bond. two countries.

“This agreement allows us to leverage the strengths of both partners to provide our customers with a greater choice of choices, as well as an improved and smoother travel journey. It would also allow us to work closely together to support initiatives that facilitate and develop tourism and economic activity as borders reopen. ”

In addition, a non-quarantine vaccine route (VTL) was launched between countries today.

Earlier this month, Dubai-based airline Emirates signed a codeshare partnership with Garuda Indonesia.
