Restrictions designed to minimize the spread of COVID-19 have led people to spend more time at home, sometimes watching fun TV shows, like the Korean drama. Crash landing on you. The drama stars actress Son Ye-jin as a South Korean heiress who accidentally lands in North Korea and falls in love with a North Korean officer, played by Hyun Bin. The drama was filmed before the pandemic resulted in cancellations and quarantines. Since then, Son, like most people, has spent more time at home than usual.
“I realize that I really love to travel,” Son said. “See how frustrated I get when I can’t go. Traveling in Africa is one of my must-see destinations. I miss friends living abroad the most.
The pandemic has reduced work-related travel, including events with fans.
“It’s true that I’m worried that a lot of people are coming together,” Son said. “I also canceled some filming times when the coronavirus started.

His has recently become the face of a mobile service campaign.

Son was due to travel to the Philippines to participate in an advertising campaign for Smart Signature mobile services, but the pandemic forced her to film the campaign closer to home. The actress regrets missing a chance to visit the Philippines and meet her fans there.
“I’ve been there several times,” Son said. “I took a family trip. It was a long time ago, but I remember it tasted so good. Nature was the most beautiful.
The Smart Signature commercial, finally filmed in Korea, shows Son riding a sparkling motorbike and promoting mobile services in fine English. Filming for the commercial lasted all night, but Son describes the experience warmly.
“The staff applauded me at the end of each cut so it was funny and I felt full of energy,” Son said. “We took it until dawn, but it was less tiring.”
Her son uses his extra time indoors wisely, keeping up with his regular workouts, while trying to eat healthy. Relaxation is another important way to recharge, and the star of some frenzy-worthy k-dramas enjoys the occasional entertainment marathon as well.

Son relies on her phone not only to stay connected during a period of social distancing, but also to update her skills.
“I use the camera app a lot,” Son said. “In addition, I use apps while driving, to listen to music and study English.”
Even though fans can relate to the way Son spends her free time, it might be difficult to convince them that she is, as she puts it, quite ordinary. His most recent drama, Crash landing on you, is the third highest rated drama in Korean cable TV history and because tvN’s drama aired internationally on Netflix, Son drew an even larger fan base.
“I never see myself as an international or global player,” she said. “I am so amazed and grateful that Crash landing on you has created many international fans.
Her son was already a star before Crash landing on you, previously appearing in dramas Something in the rain with Jung Hae-in, Don’t Look Back: The Legend of Orpheus with Kim Nam-gil and Personal taste with Lee Min-ho. She can also be seen in recent movies To be with you with So Ji-sub, The negociation, also with Hyun Bin, and The last princess with Park Hae Il.
The actress is grateful for the continued support of her fans.
“Your support gives me so much strength and I always thank you,” Son said. “Thank you for sending me so many letters, flowers, cakes, gifts and many more and I will surely reward you with a good project!”
